So, you may not be the person for swinging a machete to cut through branches in South America rainforests, in order to share the Gospel with remote tribes. That doesn't mean that you can't make a global difference. One of the areas of need in this world is care for orphans, many of them are in that state because of the AIDS virus and war. The Gathering, as a church, is committed to supporting ministries to these children. Many of the families at our church already support children and orphanage mothers through Watoto and Compassion Canada. We encourage all of our members to sponsor a child that is an orphan somewhere in the world, but specifically in Uganda where we are considering going in January of 2012.

Watoto:
Known for their choir tours around the globe, those performances are actually the face of a large organization in Uganda that works with children orphaned by aids, through the power of sponsorship. Uniquely, they also have sponsors for the "mothers" who take care of all the needs of eight chldren in ther own house. Watoto children have grown up to be adults who are changing Uganda in a postive way, and this ministry is one we wholeheartedly support. For more information, visit their website HERE.

Compassion Canada:
Another organization that we partner with is Compassion Canada. Compassion seeks to free children from the opression of poverty by first feeding them, then teaching them. By enabling these children through educational opportunities and Biblical principles, Compassion is helping to change lives across the world.
